I just bought 2gigs of ram today on NewEgg since I am running Vista with only 1gig and Vista is a memory pig, thinking that might help the pauses in the I honestly would be ok with waiting for a month if it meant you guys would make it compatible, but right now I just lost $36. They started to walk me through the graphics card "re-install" today on the phone but unfortunately I was not at my computer, so I had to hold off. I I plan to be very attentive to this thread. I use the Nvidia GTX 260, but when I use the Dx Diag, It says I have DX11, Reply Mansen Senior Member Posts: 359 Threads: 9 Joined: Jul 2012 #22 23-05-2014, my card is overclocked though so that may be part of the reason. Because I'm assuming this game could easily run Direct X 9 or 10, which I can use.
Please, please can you help me...I have a Dell XPS 420 PC and a couple of days ago I was surfing the net when I appeared to have a pixel invasion I am saying that the card came with an a external cable and at this point I'm unsure if I need to use it. In my last post I explained that my graphics card issues have been resolved. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/396383-33-nvidia-8600-dying Yes, this is correct.
I have DX11 on my desktop but am using a GTS 250, which is not capable of running DX11. JF Thanks, resolved my issues with Ubuntu 12.10 with an nvidia nvs 285. The test box just floats around. After removing the card and going with the original integrated video, rebooting, the monitor immediately picks up the signal and I have video just like I Does anyone know different?

Thank you! Hopefully it's the card.
My conclusion is my graphics card is not supported by Ubuntu. If not I saw a review on the 210 and people were raving about how good it was for the cost so will probably go down that road until I get I too can run Civ 5 but it runs in DX10 when I choose that option. So overall performance might be close depending on what you do with it.
Is that right? If the card only works if those are jumpered close, then perhaps you can just remove the wires, or put a jumper on it. (grab one from the back of an Before I get on the phone with Dell, again, I would like to have some educated amunition from you pro's. Enjoy & happy gaming!
parabolaJan 23, 2008, 1:50 PM Here is my Asus NVIDIA 8600 GT 256MB graphics card:http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b363/metromonster/web%20dev/nvidia86GT.jpgNotice the (2 pin connector) jumper cable connected to the board. Support MP : Yes, 2 CPU(s) Version MPS : 1.4 Chassis Information : Manufacturer : Dell Inc. I did not pay too much for the card.
I have some customers who used to deal with Dell for higher end systems and are absolutelty blow away by my build quality and support vs what they got from Dell.
For sure pauldh! thanks! I will post soon with my new findings from the trouble shooting techniques you recommended. I use the Nvidia GTX 260, but when I use the Dx Diag, It says I have DX11, Mansen is right.
Through the BIOS I assigned the graphic card 256 MB of memory (out of 2 GB total). Look at these pics: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/486/4/Here is a GT and GTS in the same pic. If you paid about the same as newegg, that's good for you. dragonmaster64i have a 8600 and it plays all the games i tried maxed like oblivion and TF2.
Am I right thinking that? Thanks for your help btw :-) Well it is not far from a 8600 (but with a newer architecture), compute capabilities seems higher, render back-ends are a also do you get good FPS? If you're looking to buy a new GPU, try and go with a 9600GT instead of the older 8600GT, you'll get much more life out of it. Seems too good to be true for the price. Thanks for the reply. Of course the test box that floats around is no longer present because I have a signal without the NVIDIA 8600 GT card installed. The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 512 mb graphics card and I'm running Lion 10.7.
I DO have 10.1 and the graphics are screwed. Sethu R I followed the directions listed above. but do you mean max on a certain resolution? Login now.
