The reason why is because newer soundcards will begin to register as two devices per card as per intels new "HD Audio" spec that replaces the old AC97 standard (not to I have tried the Win98SE drivers that came with the Mb (when I had Win98SE installed), and that didnt do anything. If you uninstall the driver,reboot,xp will load the drivers.Hope this helps. Ask a question and give support. Worse than before as a matter of fact. Creative 5.1 and Audigy problems You need to make sure you get the latest drivers for your soundcard.

Worked ok from skidzy's solution but at least now I can obtain proper drivers and manual.RG This thread is now locked and can not be replied to. (not working = no sound or sound only comes out of the center channel typically if 5.1 mode is selected). I have tried: -practically everything! -3 different hard drives -other memory sticks -2 different video cards -Many different sound card driver versions, both manufacturer and reference. -A half-dozen different video card Try other speakers, I think the amp in them is b0rked. When i use the nforce 2 control panel, all 6 speakers work in the sound test. Nvidia NForce2/3/4 Audio Chips Nvidia Nforce chipsets have this problem but Nvidia has an updated driver released now.
Wierd...do you know of a way to fix it manually? Restart the computer. I have tested the Nvidia beta on an ASUS A7N8X-E Nforce2 motherboard and it does resolve this problem.
