According to the motherboard monitor that came with the mobo, my idle temperatures are around 50C. The rear of the case (120mm fan): I think I'm going to borrow a hole saw and cut out a proper 120mm hole for the back fan. I will buy the silver better one though, to see if that works. -> The CPU cooler is blowing in the right direction (towards the CPU). your wire management may also be a problem. Clean dust if you have a front case fan that sucks air directly. (I put a filter and clean it every 2 to 3 months). Also, have you cleaned any dust out of your CPU heatsink?

If not that should help a bunch. The cooler itself also has two fans on either side, the front one blows into the cooler and the back one blows out of the cooler. My comp case has a grill (approx 8x6 inches) in the side which allows me to mount a fan. Unlike the Pentium Ds, the Athlon 64 X2 weren't known to idle THAT hot. check over here When you remove the heat sink, look at the paste pattern. I use a canned air product called "perfect duster" but any number of brands will work fine to clean fans and heatsinks. Then apply one drop of thermal paste and spread it around with an old credit card or single edge razor.

i bought this PC in 2009, that's not even near 10 years, unless you are referring to the quality of my pc components, which i doubt since i can run battlefield

My case temperature sensor stays around the 40 mark, but as it's a) analogue and b) not very accurate I'm not too inclined to believe it. In the BIOS the CPU reached 91C(THAT'S HOT) What did the pattern look like. By [H].

I will be able to see how hot it gets on load now. Now I know your thinking, pfft, why would I do that if the paste is on there? Never been able to a get a program to do that correctly before. A good reseat wouldn't hurt, however.
