I did toss the Radeon card back in the box and returned it to BestBuy. The screen then appeared normal, with an ''ATI Control Center'' icon on the desktop. and how much would increasing the RAM be? then turn on and install the drivers. As this is a 5500, is it not "good" enough to run the program?

Is this an OEM PC or something you put together yourself? weblink since u download the newest drivers from ati's website, there is no need for the disk. Regardless, the same error messages continued to pop up. u just download the high/speed one and that is it.

On packaged systems the power supply often severaly limits upgrade possibilities.To learn more about upgrading, I recommend visitng the site upgradevideocards.com which has a lot of helpful information, especially for new Most games out the last year or so use this technology. At this point, the monitor was blank. If possible, you should consider also upgrading CPU and adding 2 more GB of memory.But you need to provide more infomation/What games?
I'm going nuts trying to understand....."by this, i am thinking u are not disabling the correct thing. Which means at least a 9600 on the Radeon side, and I think the GeForce FX series on the nVidia side.
